I’m thrilled to share with you all my latest feature film, Killing Eleanor, which was released on digital platforms on October 12th.

Killing Eleanor was filmed in the fall of 2018, and overlapped with the filming of Monuments by about three weeks. While navigating a virtual film festival circuit in 2020, Killing Eleanor most notably won Best Narrative Feature at SCAD Savannah Film Festival.

I’m particularly proud of Killing Eleanor, specifically with the level of female-identifying individuals that were involved, both in front of and behind the camera; 64% of the cast is female, including both leads (Annika Marks and Jenny O’Hara) and both major supporting roles (Jane Kaczmarek and Betsy Brandt). 50% of Producers and 60% of department heads are female, and 100% of the vocalists on all 16 songs used in the film are female.

Killing Eleanor is a timely, poignant story about a self-destructive addict who helps an old woman end her own life, in exchange for clean urine. It explores addiction, the struggle to die on your own terms in a society that is largely fearful and ignorant of death, the idea of dying with dignity, and also, ultimately, the idea of living with dignity.

There’s humor too, of course, and it is all brought to life by an incredible cast and largely Chicago-based crew. If you worked on this film in any capacity: thank you. Thank you for giving your creative, emotional, and physical energy to help tell this story; I hope you feel proud of how it came together.

Please take a moment to watch the trailer, and order the film at the link below. Pre-orders are really important: when the film does become available, all pre-orders count as sales on Day 1, which boosts marketing exposure. So, even if you don’t actually watch the film for months, pre-ordering it will support our indie filmmaking team immediately!

I look forward to hearing what you all think. Enjoy, and thank you for your continued support of your fellow independent filmmakers.

Keep watching movies. Go to the movie theater. Believe in the power of cinema and storytelling.
